Happy Canada Day from Whitehorse

We arrived yesterday in Whitehorse, and are staying with a couple of friends here (Stephanie, Charlie, and their son Barrett) who graciously invited us to stay with them. We enjoyed hanging out with them on Canada Day. We got to check out the SS Klondike, an old paddle wheeler, which was used to transport men and supplies between here and Dawson city. Going upstream, it would burn a small forest in its boiler, requiring 120 cords of wood. (a cord is a stack 8' x 4' x 4').

After seeing the town and getting a sense of its size (not that big - 20 000 people), it boggles the mind that it contains two thirds of the Yukon's entire population.
